About SCR Innovation
We are an Oxford-based IP and innovation consultancy built on one simple conviction: the best consulting advice comes from people who’ve been in the client’s position themselves.
Our Story
SCR Innovation was founded to bridge a gap that has long existed in the IP consulting world: the divide between technically excellent advisors who have never managed a real IP function, and in-house practitioners who lack the time and independence to think strategically.
We exist in that gap. Our team has spent decades leading innovation, IP, and competitive intelligence from within global organisations at VP level and above, managing large teams, multi-million dollar budgets, and complex cross-border portfolios. We’ve sat through the board presentations, the budget cycles, and the Friday afternoon crises that come with managing IP in a high-stakes commercial environment.
That experience shapes everything we do. Our advice is practical, actionable, and calibrated to the real constraints that in-house teams face. We don’t recommend what should happen in theory, we recommend what will work in your organisation, given your people, your processes, and your priorities.
Our Founder
Simon Carr, Founder & Managing Director
Simon has over 25 years of experience in FMCG and CPG, working at the intersection of innovation strategy, intellectual property, and competitive intelligence. He has held VP-level roles at Evalueserve and senior positions at Kraft Foods/Mondelēz International and Crown Holdings, where he managed global IP portfolios, led competitive intelligence functions, and drove innovation strategy across complex multinational organisations.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma (MBA level) from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and has an engineering background, a combination that gives him an unusually clear line of sight from technical R&D activity to commercial IP value.
Simon founded SCR Innovation to bring that accumulated experience directly to clients, as a trusted partner who has faced the same challenges and knows what it takes to solve them.
He also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Growing + Green, a German urban greening company based in Bremen.

We work with a select group of clients across FMCG, CPG, food & beverage, and packaging from Fortune 500 multinationals managing global portfolios to mid-market companies building their IP function for the first time.

Our Location
We are based in Oxford, UK, with clients and engagements across Europe, North America, and globally. We work on-site where it adds value, and remotely where it doesn’t.
